Terms of use
Effective 28 October 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and [legal name] ("Selfscope Health", "we", "us"). They govern your use of selfscopehealth.com, the Selfscope Health waitlist and emails, and the Selfscope Health app, including any preview, demo or test version (together, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Please read sections 3, 11, 12 and 15 carefully. They explain that the Services are not medical advice, limit our responsibility to you, and set out how disputes are resolved.
1. Who can use the Services
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms for it.
2. The Services and the preview
The Services are under active development. Preview, demo and test versions are experimental: they may contain errors, change without notice, lack features, or stop working. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, and we are not obliged to provide any particular feature, version or level of availability.
3. Not medical advice
The Services are tools for organizing and viewing your own information. They are not medical advice, and they are not a medical device. They do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and they are not a substitute for a qualified health professional. Using the Services does not create a doctor–patient or other professional relationship.
Charts, timelines, reference ranges, body visualizations and any other information shown are for general information only. They show what changed over time, not what caused it. Information that the Services read from your documents, for example by text recognition, may be incomplete or wrong; always check it against your original records. Always seek the advice of a qualified health professional about any medical question, and never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you saw in the Services.
If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately.
4. Your data, passphrase and backups
The app is designed to encrypt your content and store it on your device. Your passphrase and recovery code are the only way to unlock it. We do not have them and cannot recover them, reset them, or restore your content if they are lost or forgotten.
You are solely responsible for keeping your passphrase and recovery code safe, for the security of your devices and browsers, and for keeping your own copies of your records. Content stored in a browser can be lost, for example if you clear your browser data, change devices, or the browser removes it. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss of, or inability to access, your content.
5. Your content and feedback
You keep all rights in the content you add to the Services. If you send content to us, you grant us a limited licence to use it only as needed to provide and support the Services. You confirm that you have the right to use the content you add.
If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback, including votes on what to build next, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use them for any purpose without obligation or payment to you.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Services in violation of any law or anyone else's rights, including privacy rights;
- add or process another person's health information without their authorization;
- interfere with, disrupt, overload or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services or the systems behind them;
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Services without our written permission;
- scrape, copy, resell or commercially exploit the Services, except as these terms or applicable open-source licences allow;
- use the Services to build a competing product, or reverse engineer them except where the law expressly permits it; or
- sign up others for the waitlist without their consent, or use automated means to submit forms.
7. Waitlist and founding testers
Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access to the Services, to any version or feature, or to any price, discount or offer. Founding-tester benefits, invitations, votes and polls are offered at our discretion; votes are advisory and do not oblige us to build anything. We may change or end the waitlist or any founding offer at any time.
8. Paid features
Some features may require payment in the future. Prices, payment terms, licence terms and any refund policy will be shown when you buy, and those additional terms will apply to your purchase.
9. Our intellectual property
The Services, including their software, design, text, graphics, logos and the Selfscope Health name, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for your own personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Some components are provided under open-source or third-party licences, and those licences govern your use of those components.
10. Third-party services and content
The Services may include or link to third-party services, content and data, including anatomical models, reference information and services you choose to connect. We do not control and are not responsible for them, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that information shown will be accurate, complete or reliable, that defects will be corrected, or that content will not be lost.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Selfscope Health and its owners, officers, employees, contractors and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, health information, profits, revenue, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to the Services or these terms, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if we were advised of the possibility.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Services or these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) 100 US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or certain liabilities to be limited. In those jurisdictions, the exclusions and limits above apply only to the extent the law permits, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
13. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Selfscope Health and its owners, officers, employees and contractors from any claims, losses, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Services, your content, or your breach of these terms or of any law or third-party right.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end your access to the Services, or remove you from the waitlist, at any time and without notice if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Services. Sections 3 to 5 and 9 to 17 survive termination.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [province or state] and the federal laws of [country] that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Talk to us first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at hello@selfscopehealth.com with a description of the dispute and to try in good faith to resolve it informally for at least 60 days.
Arbitration. To the extent the law allows, any dispute that is not resolved informally will be resolved by final and binding arbitration before a single arbitrator in [city], under the rules of [arbitration body], and not in court. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and either party may seek urgent injunctive relief in court to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.
No class actions. To the extent the law allows, disputes will be resolved only on an individual basis, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding.
If the law where you live does not allow these dispute terms to apply to you as a consumer, they do not apply, and you may bring proceedings in the courts that the law gives you access to. Otherwise, any proceeding not subject to arbitration will be brought only in the courts of [province or state], and you and we submit to their jurisdiction.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date, and if a change is material we will give reasonable notice, for example by email or on the website. Changes apply from their effective date. If you continue to use the Services after that, you accept the updated terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the Services.
17. General
These terms, together with our privacy policy and any additional terms that apply to a purchase, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the rest will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them, including in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Headings are for convenience only. If these terms are translated, the English version prevails to the extent the law allows.
