Privacy policy
Effective 28 October 2026.
This policy explains how [legal name] ("Selfscope Health", "we", "us") collects, uses and discloses personal information through selfscopehealth.com, the Selfscope Health waitlist and our emails, and the Selfscope Health app and preview (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. Your email address when you join the waitlist, a record of your confirmation, and anything you choose to send us, such as messages and feedback.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and our service providers receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, referring pages and the time of your visit. We use this to operate and secure the Services and to understand, in aggregate, how the website is used. Our website measurement is configured not to use cookies or store identifiers in your browser.
Information in the app. The app is designed so that the health records, documents and other content you add are encrypted on your device and stored there. As currently designed, we do not receive or have access to that content. If we introduce features that would send any of it to us or to a service provider, such as backup, sync or AI features, we will describe them before you use them and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Please do not send us health information by email or other channels. We do not need it to provide the waitlist or answer your questions.
2. How we use information
- To provide, operate, maintain and improve the Services.
- To confirm your waitlist sign-up and send you preview invitations, product updates and related communications you have agreed to receive.
- To respond to your messages and requests.
- To protect the security and integrity of the Services, and to detect, prevent and respond to fraud, abuse and unlawful activity.
- To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We may create aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, and use it for any lawful purpose.
3. Legal bases
Where the law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on your consent (for marketing emails), on the steps needed to provide a service you have asked for, on our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Services (balanced against your rights), and on compliance with our legal obligations.
4. How we disclose information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose it only as follows:
- Service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions, bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. These include providers of hosting, content delivery and network security; email delivery and mailing-list management; and website analytics.
- Legal and safety reasons, where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Selfscope Health, our users or others.
- Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of all or part of our business, subject to the recipient honouring the commitments in this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
5. International transfers
We and our service providers may store and process personal information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States and countries in the European Union. Those countries may have different data-protection laws, and information held there may be accessible to their courts, law-enforcement and national-security authorities. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Email addresses that have not been confirmed are not added to our mailing list. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we may keep a minimal record (such as your email address and the date) so that we can honour your request and do not contact you again. Residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period until they are overwritten.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
In the app, your passphrase and recovery code are the only way to unlock your encrypted content. We do not have them and cannot recover them or your content if they are lost. You are responsible for keeping them safe and for keeping your own copies of your records.
8. Your choices and rights
Emails. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any of our emails. We may still send you messages that do not promote anything, for example about a request you made.
Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing before you withdrew it). To make a request, email hello@selfscopehealth.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law requires. We may decline or limit a request where the law permits. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the data-protection or privacy authority where you live.
9. Children
The Services are not directed to, and are not intended for, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Other websites
The Services may link to websites and services we do not operate. Their own privacy policies govern how they handle your information, and we are not responsible for their practices.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. If a change is material, we will give you notice as the law requires, for example by email or on the website.
